GAP | Final Exhibition

Thursday June 11th 2015 at 6 p.m., GAP – Waiting for Expo 2015’s final exhibition will open at La Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan, Italy. The exhibition will continue until June 30th 2015.

GAP – Global Art Programme, Waiting for Expo 2015 is an international programme of cultural exchange between Italy and other countries participating in the Expo Milano 2015 , Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life. Started in 2010, the programme offered to Italian and foreign artists the opportunity to live a residence period of two month in a host country in order to create a work on issues related to the Expo (health and proper nutrition, environment and sustainable energy , geo-architecture). Every year foreign artists were selected to stay in Milan at the residence Open Care, managed by FARE, while the Italians passed their period of residence in foreign countries identified from time to time as annual partners of the programme. Every single residence ended with an exhibition presenting the work of the artist selected and the publication of a book that collects his impressions and his experience.

The programme, which continued until March 2015, will end with an exhibition of all the works produced by participants. This exhibition will be in the cultural programming of Expo Milano 2015. The artists, involved in the project, are: Alaa Abu Asad, Paola Anziché, Emanuela Ascari, Beatrice Catanzaro, Richard Cramp, Luca De Leva, Egemen Demirci, Cleo Fariselli, Gabriele Garavaglia, Ramal Kazimov, Alessandro Piangiamore, Julie Vacher, Pep Vidal, Asim Waqif. At the final exhibition a catalogue will be published with images of all producted works and texts written by involved artists and curators.

The project was conceived by Artegiovane Milan, promoted by FARE, with the contribution of Regione Lombardia, in collaboration with Comune di Milano and the patronage of Expo Milano 2015.

The international partner partecipating in the GAP project are: Khoj International Artists’ Association, New Delhi, India; SharpCut, London, UK; Caravansarai, Istanbul, Turkey; Art 3, Valence, France; Moly Sabata, Sablon, France; BAR project, Barcelona, Spain; Al Ma’mal Foundation for Contemporary Art, Jerusalem, Palestine; Yarat Contemporary Art Space, Baku, Azerbaijan.
From 2010 to 2014 the Programme was realised in collaboration with Frigoriferi Milanesi and Open Care, with the contribution of Regione Lombardia, Camera di Commercio di Milano, Fondazione Cariplo, Comune di Milano, MIBACT, Camera di Commercio di Torino, Fondazione Stelline.
